SSHRC has awarded us funding to help defray some of the travel and accommodation costs of graduate students who are presenting papers at our 2010 conference and who live outside the Lower Mainland area of BC.
These monies will likely not cover full amounts requested, but we hope to be able to provide somewhere between $500 and $600 per qualifying subsidy request. We urge all student presenters also to contact their home institutions for further financial assistance.
Travel Expense Claim Forms will be provided at the conference in August. All those graduate students who wish to be considered for assistance must complete the form and return it, together with all original receipts and airline boarding passes, by 31 August 2010 to the following:
Dept. of History
Simon Fraser University
8888 University Drive
Burnaby, BC V5A 1S6
Reimbursement cheques will be mailed out after the claims have been processed by SFU’s Financial Services.
We are sorry, but we do not have funds available to subsidize travel of other participants at this time. However, we will continue to fundraise, and if further monies become available from other sources, we will try to provide some financial assistance to others, giving priority to postdoctoral fellows, independent scholars, and sessional instructors.
Any questions or concerns about travel subsidies may be directed to Willeen Keough at email@example.com or Lara Campbell at firstname.lastname@example.org.
