This site was created to foster discussion, debate and interest in Public History in Canada. Its goal is to encourage the sense of community that exists among historians who work in public memory institutions, and those who teach Public History in universities.
Since 1921, the Canadian Historical Association has included members who were primarily interested in public history. In 2006, the Public History Working Group met at the CHA's annual conference at York University to pursue specific measure to stimulate debate and discussions about the practice and theory of Public History in Canada.
On this site, you will find recent papers regarding Public History, a Bulletin Board for discussion and debate, and listings of upcoming events.
We also invite you to click on "Membership" to add your name to our datebase of people who work in Public History or who have an interest in the field. There is no membership fee.
